Shift Linkage Bushing
The bushings at the shift linkage are very prone to failure. They are often cracked and sometimes missing entirely.
These are new, Original BMW bushing sold each. It's a good idea to remove, clean and lubricate the shift linkage at regular intervals for optimal shifting performance and to prevent premature wear. The best lubricant is LIQUI MOLY LM47 and these bushings will keep the grease inside and the dirt out.

The originals are felt and disintegrate over the years. The foam replacement pictured is not what you will get. Instead, you get a fantastic silicone rubber seal that slips tightly over the ball joint and creates a waterproof seal at the linkage. What a great design.
