Exhaust Thread Cutting Tool 48mm
This tool is perfect for fixing threads that are moderately to severely damaged but still there. It can be used whenever the exhaust nuts are removed to clean and reshape the threads. This is a must have tool for any serious airhead mechanic.
It happens quite often that the exhaust nuts were at some point over tightened of not installed with copper paste or anti seize and they get stuck. Before forcing the issue and ruining the threads entirely, stop and cut the old nuts off. Even then, some damage will have likely occurred to the threads but this tool will save the day (and the head) in that case..
Size= M48 x 2. Suitable for all R45 and R65 65 models.

Expensive! But awesome. Bought an R65, putting on new headers found the right flange terrible cross threaded. This fixed it up perfectly\!

When I removed the exhaust on my R65 one of the ports was slightly damaged. One was perfect but the other had a bad nut. Lots of galling. I should have known better and cut it off. Lesson learned. When I tried to put the old nut back on (another mistake) it got worse, so I stopped and bought this tool. It's nicely designed and works very well. It cleaned up the threads beautifully. I used a little cutting oil and worked it slowly back and forth. It restored the threads and now the new nut glides on. It was easy to get on the threads and it cut nicely. It has a split with an allen head bolt so you adjust the compliance. It's not cheap, but less than the cost of removing the head and having someone weld on a new port. And it's the right tool for the job.
