Description
Copper Crush Seal Rings
If you have been involved with BMW motorcycles for quite some time, you might remember these soft, fiber filled crush washers. We are very pleased to offer these!
When the drain plug or fastener is tightened, these crush washers compress much more easily than solid seal rings and they form a perfect seal without excessive torque. These are especially great when the threads are a bit marginal and you want to avoid high torque and further damage, but they are also ideal in all seal ring applications and represent good old school technology that gave way to cost cuts over the years.
We offer the following sizes:
- 8X12X1,5ex: Fork Damper Rods up to 1980, final drive inspection plug 1981-on
- 12X18X2 ex: Swing Arm oil fill and drain, oil pressure switch
- 14X20X2 ex: Gearbox & final drive drain
- 18X24X2 ex: Oil drain plug, gearbox filler plug, final drive filler/vent
NOTE: It is recommended to have the closed side facing the plug and the seam side facing the contact point where the plug screws in (i.e. when holding the plug, put it on closed side down and seam side up)

First of all, I must highly recommend boxer2valve for their great service and patience with me and my order. I am in Canada and wanted a number of items for maintenance on a recently purchased 1972 R 75/5 that was a "spitting image" of one I had bought new in 1972. They held my order until all items were in stock and patiently put up with my numerous phone calls to add more to the order that I discovered I needed. I wanted them to hold the order as I was having it shipped to a border pick up depot that I could drive to for pick up. They were above and beyond for service. I used a few of the crush rings this week and they were great, changed oil in transmission, rear drive, and drive shaft housing and haven't seen any leaks. The crush rings do the job.

I usually don't write reviews, but I will for Boxer 2valve. I can't say enough about their service and selection of parts for my rebuilt. Service and prompt shipping is unbelieveable.

These are a timeless design that works. These are single use and form a fluid tight seal with minimal torque. (unlike the solid copper and Al seal rings) As our classics age, the thread engagement becomes a little thinner. Continue to over torque the drain/fil plugs in your classic and you may find your unhappy place with the big leak due to striped threads. These unassuming little rings help reduce the risk.
