160mm H4 Headlight Reflector with Lens
Here's a comparatively inexpensive way to convert the headlight of your /5 to H4, with everything needed supplied in one kit. This headlight assembly is a cost effective yet good quality replacement for your 160mm ( 6-1/2") headlight if it's broken or missing. This size headlight is suitable for /5 models and also R45 and R65 models up to the 1984 model year.
The kit consists of the following pieces - headlight reflector and glass lens assembly. Equivalent fitment to BMW part # 63 12 1 351 650 or 63 12 1 243 537

I replaced the OEM tungsten assembly with this H4 upgrade. The part fits fine BUT: the kit DOES include the H4 retainer and the parking light socket however, it should be noted that the elastomer gasket seal between the lens and the metal ring IS needed for the upgrade. The OEM seal is not reusable. The parts are perfect; the supporting information should be updated hence the 4 stars rating rather than 5 stars.

I've had a Windjammer fairing on my /5 since I bought it in 1983. It was time for the fairing to go. By watching William's videos and with your part I was able to successfully the headlight on my vintage bike. Parts quality was high, everything fit and is working. Thanks JD

All I needed was a replacement for a broken lens. Could not find and BMW also does not have. The conversion was the way to go, also now have the inexpensive H4 bulb.
