Advance Spring up to 1976, each
Over time, the advance springs weaken and no longer do they properly retract the advance mechanism. This can result in a slightly advanced ignition timing at idle. The symptoms are a slower than desired return to idle or a high idle. We recommend replacing these springs when replacing the points.
Sold each, two needed. Equivalent to BMW Part Number 12 11 1 356 546.

Works as intended. Little tricky to install as they are so small. Start with the outbound lob first then stretch to the inner.

The centrifugal advance unit is notorious for over advancing. These are noticably heavier than the original (presumably worn out) springs. When removing the old springs, disassemble the advance unit carefully. There should be two plastic washers on the pivot pins. Lightly grease these pins and washers after cleaning any gunk off. Did I mention lightly grease? Good, lightly grease, then reassemble. Do NOT use any sort of nail or tool to loop inside the spring loops to get them over the posts to avoid overstretching the new spring. If you don't get enough advance with these springs, email B2V to find possibly a lighter spring. Great find, saves having to buy a new (expensive) advance unit.
